Hello, my name is Francis Ojok, a final year student pursuing a
bachelor's degree in public health in Uganda-East Africa. I'm 27
years old and a proud owner of a beautiful and portable laptop from
YouBridge project. My donor is Pieter Dewinter who is one of the
co-founders YouBridge project.
I am also the first YouBridge Ambassador in Uganda, being
YouBridge Ambassador has helped me to widen my circle of influence
both locally and internationally more especially in Belgium. For
the few months, I have received very important visitors from
YouBridge Belgium namely: Elke, the rabbit TV crew, and of recent
Ken Decooman, a brother to one of the co-founders of the YouBridge
project Jonas Decooman. Apart from making friendships, I have also
learnt a bit of some culture from the visitors which has improved
my cultural competence as well.
As YouBridge Ambassador, I motivate students to keep hoping that
one day their dreams will fulfilled when they receive a laptop from
YouBridge project and their life will never be the same again.
The truth is that the first time I heard of YouBridge from our
Vice chancellor; I did not believe it until the first batch of
laptops arrived and was distributed to beneficiaries including me.
From that moment I started to realise my dream of becoming a public
health specialist in 10 years with a PhD in Public Health, and
working for United Nations. This is because with the laptop I
have been able to achieve the following:
Academically, the laptop has improved my performance at the
university. This is because with the laptop I have been able
to browse the net and research, make my own notes, type my own
course work, and hand it in time to my lecturers. I no longer
spend money to have my work typed. I am also well informed with
what is going on globally especially in public health, politics,
and sports which are my interests, because with help of the lap top
I can browse the net from anywhere and get first hand information
of my interests.
Having this laptop has really helped me improve my computer
skills. This is because I spend most times using it processing my
work for example writing proposals, typing my course works, making
presentations, and making my notes.
I also no longer have to carry a lot of paper to write notes in
classroom, as I just type them up directly and make my own notes or
get a soft copy from my lecturer and make additions to it to make
it comprehensive for revision purposes. This has helped save my
home and university environment from littering papers hence reduced
environmental pollution.
Socially, the laptop has helped me to entertain my self and my
friends as I can play music and watch movies using the laptop. I
have also been able to communicate with friends and relatives both
locally and internationally via gmail, yahoo, facebook, and many
other channels. Hence with YouBridge the world is a very small
global village. I have also been able to teach my friends and
family members some basic computer skills. This has really helped
them to communicate with their loved ones locally and
internationally. I have also improved a lot in my communication
skills more especially my writing skills because of this laptop
from YouBridge.
Generally, this laptop from YouBridge has totally changed my
life from the time I received it because every time I am processing
my work on the laptop, I see my dreams on the door way and the
world has become a very small village for me. This is because
I am able to communicate to anyone anywhere on this
planet using my beautiful and portable laptop from YouBridge. For
sure I will never forget YouBridge Organization for donating to me
a laptop that has totally changed and turned my life around and put
my dreams on course. Long live YouBridge; long live Pieter Dewinter
my donor. Now I have to go but rememberer, with YouBridge
just with a click of a mouse in a second you can be any where
in this planet say United kingdom, Belgium, Untied states,
Iran, Ghana etc, etc, etc........
